| The NoVA/MD crew got home last night after two long days of driving, exhausted and cranky, but I know also generally satisfied after an excellent convention. I wanted to take a minute to express my extreme gratitude to several parties: First - John Pionke (SN: pionkej) gets my "Kindness of Strangers" award. After it was determined Saturday morning in Nashville that my Z should be driven no farther due to the pluming smoke, rattling sounds and burning oil smells (and sinking feeling of deja vu), we combed local members of TT.net for a name we were familiar with and happened upon John's. Bernie gave him a call and he graciously offered his driveway as a place to drop my Z while we continued on to ZCon and figured out what to do with it. John, I'm very grateful for your help - though I've never met you, you stepped up to save the day and left me feeling confident that my Z would be safe, allowing me to continue on to have a good time at ZCon, which had become a debatable proposition around this point:
I'd also like to thank my crew for helping me out as I limped along on the highway, diagnosing the problem, holding my hand while I figured out what to do about it, offering suggestions, carrying me and my crap, and being a shoulder to lean on. Because of them I went on ahead to the convention and had a terrific time even without my Z. All you busters who don't go just because it's too far to drive, keep in mind that it IS possible to still enjoy the convention without your Z! Bernie, Adam, Spencer and Karl, you guys rock. I love the Z car and everything associated with it at these conventions, but most of all, for me, attending these events is about being with the people like you who make the Z community as terrific as it is. With that in mind, I have a third party to thank, and that's the ZCon event organizers. This convention was a lot of fun, and everyone I talked to seemed to be really enjoying it. I appreciate that you guys put your lives aside to make such a huge event happen with apparent flawlessness. I hope you all got to enjoy it as well, and that you can all relax now. I've begun putting my ZCon photos online, but that's going to take a little while. If I can muster the time, I'll make a photo post, but I wanted to get this one out right away. Much thanks again to all!

I was previously a aviation mechanic and avionic technician and this car is harder to work on than Aircraft. - Hocuz77 03:04:56 02/28/06 |
